Netflix confirms release date of ‘Chamkila’

Netflix has confirmed the release date of ‘Chamkila’ starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra.

The film helmed by Imtiaz Ali, is based on the life of legendary Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila.

With the maestro AR Rahman helming the music for the film and Irshad Kamil penning the lyrics, the audience will once again get to witness the magic of a Rahman – Imtiaz – Irshad collaboration. Adding to the excitement, both Diljit and Parineeti have lent their voices to some of the songs! For the first time, the film will showcase live music recordings done on locations capturing the rawness and the exuberance of each moment as Diljit and Parineeti sing live in the Akhadaas.

The film is produced by Mohit Choudhary, Select Media Holdings LLP, Saregama, and Window Seat Films. The music of the film is on Saregama.

It releases on 12th April 2024 – to coincide with Vaisakhi.

Sharing the announcement, Netflix wrote, “Maahaul bann jaata tha jab vo chedta tha saaz, kuch aisa hi tha Chamkila ka Andaaz (banjo emoji) (A crowd would gather when he sang, such was his style). @imtiazaliofficial ’s AmarSinghChamkila arriving on 12 April, only on Netflix!”
