Special Feature: Is Salman Khan a victim of his own success?

Salman Khan, the name, means news all year round.

Love him or hate him but you cannot ignore him.

Some call him a controversial Indian superstar others call him God’s own child.

Over the years, Khan has successfully built a strong fan base so much so that his fans love him to the extent of reverence. “Bhaijaan” says his fans are like family to him.

The horrifying gunfire incident that took place recently outside Khan’s residence in Mumbai just days after Eid al-Fitr was celebrated in India during which the actor had made a customary appearance for his fans from his balcony, has sent shock waves in Bollywood.

The accused perpetrators have already been nabbed by the Indian police and the actor’s security has been further beefed-up by the state. As news of the ghastly incident spread, one could sense the panic among Salman Khan’s fans. Scores of fans took to different social media platforms to express their dismay about the incident and conveyed their concern for their idol urging him to stay safe. Many flocked outside Galaxy Apartments (Khan’s residence) showing their support for him.

Salman Khan’s brother Arbaaz Khan released a statement on behalf of his family yesterday thanking everyone for their love and support in addition to requesting the public not to pay heed to any unofficial statements made by self-proclaimed spokesmen of the Khan family. He also stressed the fact that his family was indeed taken aback by the appalling incident but they have complete faith in the Indian police in providing them with the best possible security.

It is interesting to observe that though Khan himself likes to keep it low-key on the personal front and is focused completely on his work, there are some comedians, influencers, producers, actors and others from the Indian entertainment industries who relentlessly indulge in using his name for publicity, trying to rake in money. (It needs to be noted that Salman Khan’s father Salim Khan did confirm that those involved in the gunfire incident wanted publicity too).

How fair is it to malign a celebrity’s image continually and also drag his family members names most often in such controversies even though they have nothing to do with all of it is worthy of discussion.

However, fans have seen Khan being brave whenever he has experienced any kind of lows in his life.

Khan’s fans assert that God shall keep him safe no matter the threats to his life as he is in some way providing for a number of households especially that of film crews since years and this along with his various charitable works through Being Human would always bring numerous blessings of commoners to him.

Speaking further about the gunfire incident, once the Indian police completes the interrogation of the two arrested men, more information is likely to come to light about the disturbing occurrence, for which dreaded gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother Anmol Bishnoi has allegedly taken responsibility via a Facebook post.

It is because of the hunting of two blackbucks allegedly by Khan in 1998 that the Bishnoi brothers are said to be seeking revenge on him as they consider the blackbuck to be a sacred animal.

Meanwhile the actor’s fans are praying that the particular infamous blackbuck poaching case that has troubled Khan for decades finds its culmination soon and the threats to his life stop.
