Sanjay Leela Bhansali on how Alia Bhatt reacted when ‘Inshallah’ was shelved

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has opened up about Alia Bhatt’s emotional reaction to the shelving of his film ‘Inshallah’. The film, which was set to feature Bhatt alongside Salman Khan, was canceled due to creative differences between Bhansali and Khan.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Bhansali described how deeply Bhatt was affected by the news, stating, “She broke down, she cracked up, cried, raved, ranted, and locked herself in a room.” The actress, who was highly invested in the project, took the cancellation hard.

‘Inshallah’ was meant to mark the first collaboration between Bhatt and Khan under Bhansali’s direction. Despite this setback, Bhansali’s next project, ‘Love and War’, starring Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal, has been postponed. Originally slated for release in December 2025, the film will now hit theaters in March 2026.
