The much-anticipated film ‘Visfot’, starring Fardeen Khan and Riteish Deshmukh, is set to skip a theatrical release and premiere directly on JioCinema.
The film is produced by Sanjay Gupta, a seasoned filmmaker known for his stylish and gritty storytelling. In addition to ‘Visfot’, Gupta’s directorial project ‘The Miranda Brothers’ will also release exclusively on the streaming platform.
Sanjay Gupta had revealed back in December 2022 that both films were always intended for digital release. He explained that the decision to opt for an OTT premiere was made early in the production process, allowing the films to be shot with a digital audience in mind. “We were clear that it’ll go straight to digital. We shot those films accordingly,” Gupta stated.
Despite the digital route, Gupta assured that the films would retain a cinematic feel, emphasizing that they would stand out from other direct-to-OTT releases in India. “A lot of the content created in India in Hindi which is released directly on the OTT platforms is not cinematic. I am trying to bridge that gap in my films,” he noted. Gupta’s ambition is to bring the grandeur of big-screen cinema to the small screen, offering audiences a viewing experience that feels as though it belongs on the silver screen.
‘Visfot’ premieres on JioCinema on Friday 6th September 2024.
