Remake of Amitabh Bachchan & Rajesh Khanna starrer ‘Anand’ confirmed

Producer Sameer Raj Sippy has announced the remake of his grandfather N C Sippy’s popular film ‘Anand’ (1971) which starred Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna in iconic roles.

“Keeping in mind the sensibilities of the original film and the emotions attached, I felt the current generation needs to be retold the many stories that are so relevant today and especially when there is a great appetite for good content,” said Sippy, according to Box Office Worldwide. It’s thought that the scripting stage is currently underway and the director has not yet been finalised for the remake.

“Digging into our own classics, we will find invaluable gems rather than scouting for stories, Internationally or Regionally. Placing Anand in the post-Covid era, where we emphasise on the value of life, will enhance the story of Anand,” added Vikram Khakhar who will also be producing the film.

Fans have not taken the news positively, with many commenting that such an iconic film is only once in a lifetime.
