Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted a special gathering with the Kapoor family in Delhi to honour the 100th birth anniversary of legendary actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor.

On Tuesday, members of the Kapoor family, including Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Bharat Sahni, Rima Jain, Manoj Jain, Aadar Jain, Armaan Jain, and his wife Anissa Malhotra, were seen attending the meeting with PM Modi.

A group photo from the event shows the men standing at the back while the Kapoor women posed with the Prime Minister. Amitabh Bachchan’s son-in-law, Nikhil Nanda—Raj Kapoor’s grandson through his daughter Ritu Nanda—was also in attendance, along with his sister Nitasha Nanda.

Sharing her gratitude, Kareena Kapoor Khan posted on social media, “We are deeply humbled and honoured to have been invited by the Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, to commemorate the extraordinary life and legacy of our grandfather, the legendary Raj Kapoor. Thank you, Shri Modi ji, for such a special afternoon. Your warmth, attention, and support in celebrating this milestone meant the world to us.

As we celebrate 100 glorious years of Dadaji’s artistry, vision, and contribution to Indian cinema, we honour the timeless impact of his legacy, which continues to inspire us and generations to come. We are proud to showcase his iconic films and remember the impact he had on Indian cinema with the ‘Raj Kapoor 100 Film Festival’. December 13–15, 2024 | 10 films | 40 cities | 135 cinemas. #100YearsOfRajKapoor.”

Riddhima Kapoor Sahni also shared heartfelt words alongside photos with PM Modi, writing, “They say manifest and it happens. When Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji took the oath for the first time in 2014, I had really wished to meet him purely owing to his dynamism and charisma… 10 years later, I had the privilege and sheer honour of meeting him as a representative of my family to celebrate my grandfather Shri Raj Kapoor ji, who has left behind his legacy and impeccable body of work.

As the world gears up to celebrate my grandfather’s 100th birth anniversary, our hearts are filled with gratitude—for the Almighty, our Prime Minister for making time and sharing his love for my grandfather, and for each one of you for loving us! #100YearsOfRajKapoor.”

The Kapoor family, together with PM Modi, paid tribute to the monumental contribution of Raj Kapoor to Indian cinema. The celebration will continue with the ‘Raj Kapoor 100 Film Festival,’ a grand event showcasing his iconic films across 40 cities and 135 cinemas from December 13 to 15, 2024.
