Anees Bazmee distances himself from 20-year-old film ‘Naam’ release

Filmmaker Anees Bazmee has distanced himself from the upcoming release of a 20-year-old film, ‘Naam’, which is scheduled to hit cinemas on 22nd November 2024.

The film, starring Ajay Devgn, was originally made in 2004 and has been unexpectedly revived for release. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Bazmee expressed his disapproval: “What can I do if the producers have decided to release an old project I had forgotten about? I made this film in 2004. This is 2024, and everyone has moved on. It’s not just a disservice to me but to everyone involved.”

When asked if he had discussed the release with Devgn, Bazmee replied, “No, I haven’t. I don’t see the need. Ajay too must have forgotten about it until now, when the producers suddenly decided to bring it out of the cans.”

Bazmee also remarked on the audience’s expectations, saying, “Aaj ka audience bahot hoshiyar hai. They cannot be taken for granted.”
