London’s popular Asian radio stations, Lyca Radio and Lyca Gold have announced plans to scrap adverts and commercial features on Monday as a sign of respect on the day of Her Majesty, The Queen’s funeral.
From 06:00 until 19:00 both Lyca Radio and Lyca Gold will broadcast extra news updates on the Queen’s funeral. Since the Queen’s demise last Thursday, Lyca Radio and Lyca Gold have been mourning with a softer music output and commentary on the Queen’s final journey. On the night of the Queen’s death, Lyca Radio and Lyca Gold suspended its main output including all commercials until the following day.
Raj Baddhan, CEO of Lyca Media said, “Losing the Queen is like the loss of a close family member. Not only are we devastated by the demise of Her Majesty but we also are very sensitive with our output. We’ve made a decision to suspend all adverts and commercial properties on Monday as a sign of respect on the day of the Queen’s funeral.”
