Akshay Kumar’s ‘Bell Bottom’ to release in cinemas on 19th August?

Akshay Kumar’s much delayed ‘Bell Bottom’ will release in cinemas on 19th August, according to sources within the production’s distribution team. Should this be the case, it ties in nicely with a week of holidays starting with Independence Day on Sunday, then Parsi New Year and Muharram.

The espionage thriller, set in the 1980s, was supposed to be released today. But with theatres not being open yet owing to the current pandemic, the release was halted, reports Peeping Moon.

There were some that said the release would shift online with options including Amazon Prime and Disney+ Hotstar. However, the superstar was adamant ‘Bell Bottom’ is the first major Bollywood film to release in theatres during the pandemic.

The movie also stars Huma Qureshi, Vaani Kapoor, Lara Dutta, and Adil Hussain. It was one of the first major Bollywood productions go into production after the lockdown last year. The story revolves around a true-event-based espionage story set during the 1980s and was filmed in Glasgow and around the UK last year.
